Our Vision

The Adopt an Elder Foundation believes in the principle that every person and their family deserves the right to choose how they age and  how the delivery of care will be administered.  The Adopt an Elder Foundation is a program designed to subsidize low-income, Medi-Cal eligible seniors needing daily care and supervision in an assisted living community.  We believe personal preference, quality of care and dignified living choices promotes independence and healthy attitudes for all concerned. Our foundation pays no salarys and is run by our board of volunteers.

Yvonne, Adoptee

"One Woman's Story"

At ninety years old Yvonne lived in a luxurious assisted living community. She had saved her money for years for her comfortable retirement. Suddenly she found that her granddaughter had run off to Europe with her savings. The crime left her destitute. Her care home lost $40,000 trying to keep her with them and eventually Adult Protective Services had to be called to help relocate Yvonne who would soon be homeless. Fortunately, the facility administrator also contacted the Adopt an Elder organization. Adopt an Elder was able to place Yvonne in a more affordable assisted living facility by subsidizing her low income with $100 per month. Yvonne is now secure and happy again. Her concerns today are about gaining weight from the excellent meals being prepared for her and not about where she will live next month.

How the Program Works

The Adopt an Elder Foundation is a non-profit program designed to subsidize low income seniors needing daily care and supervision in an assisted living community. The adoption term is for one year and upon the completion of the first year reassessment for a second term will become an option if funding is available.
